Just a quick post for now. It’s Sunday morning and we’re about to head out.

Pic above is buffet breakfast at the Auckland airport hotel. After that we headed over to wait for our 9.50am flight to Tokyo Narita.

Flight was pretty good. The kids loved having the individual screens. We all burned through a bunch of movies.

Arrived at about 4.30pm Tokyo time and, despite being pretty tired, we managed to negotiate customs, pick up our portable wifi unit, and get our Japan Rail passes. Then we caught an express train to Shinjuku, which will be our base of operations for the next 5 days.

Walked from the station to our hotel. Finally got to bed about 10pm Tokyo time (2am for us).

The hotel is nice and we had a good sleep. It’s 8.30 now and we’ve had the buffet breakfast (Maeve could only eat rice and prawns, but she was happy enough). About to head off and explore.
